At Bluebonnet Chrysler Dodge Ram we want our customers equipped with the knowledge they need to make the right decisions when purchasing their new vehicles. If you are on the market for a new truck you probably wonder how different trucks stack up against one another. The 2018 Ram 2500 is one of the boldest trucks on the market, but how does it fare against comparable trucks in its class?

The Ram 2500 has already stirred up a lot of excitement, it's a strong entry standing right in the middle power-wise of the 2018 Ram's truck lineup. At first glance it already appears more than capable with three powerful engine options, a hitch receiver, and a four-pin trailer harness.

We want to see just how well the Ram 2500 stacks up against the competition. We are breaking down the differences between the Ram 2500 and the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 to give our customers in New Braunfels, TX the information they need for smart shopping.

Who's got the power?

These are both large powerful trucks capable of getting the job done, but let's break down the numbers and see how they stack up. The 2018 Ram 2500 comes standard with a V8 5.7L HEMI gas engine couple with a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual mode. This combo cranks out a burly 383 horsepower that will satisfy any driver. The Sierra  comes standard with a V8 Flex Fuel 6.0L Vortec engine that pushes out 360 horsepower. Not bad, but the Ram 2500 ekes it out by 23 horsepower.

Let's see the features.

The Sierra and the Ram 2500 both offer standard multimedia systems with Apple Carplay and Uconnect, respectively. Both come standard with brake assist system and other safety systems. Both offer powerful diesel engine options. The Ram 2500 offers the available Cummins six-cylinder Turbo Diesel 6.7 liter engine, and the Sierra has an available V8 Turbo Diesel 6.6 liter Duramax engine.

Some more features with the Ram 2500 are an available cargo-view camera, front and rear park assist sensors, and a full-color 7-inch instrument cluster which will help you keep track of everything at a glance.

The Ram also comes in multiple trims that really ups the ante, check out the Ram 2500 Power Wagon to see Ram's powerful off-road take on their classic 2500. The 2500 Power Wagon offers a unique large truck experience that allows the driver to confidently take it anywhere on- or off-road. There's also the gorgeous Ram 2500 Limited which merges the class and style of an upscale car with the raw power you expect of a Ram truck.

Measuring Capability.

In terms of capability, both trucks make a strong showing. They will both make short work of anything you may need to tow or haul. However, the Ram 2500 offers a standard five-link coil rear suspension that allows for increased maneuverability while towing large cargo. This suspension also allows for a comfortable ride that will immediately stick out to you on a drive. If you need something even better, you can pick up the available, class-exclusive rear air suspension that allows for adjusting your alignment to ensure a level load when towing.

Ultimately, the GMC 2500 is a good truck, but the 2018 Ram 2500 really blows the competition away with its available features and unique trim options.
